	" I work with the ancient art form of encaustic, in which the artist uses different types of wax, resins and dry pigments. As an ancient Roman painter once said, encaustic means “to paint with fire”, since the  mixture  must be kept hot while working with it. Encaustic is a durable medium; it was one of the first techniques in painting. What makes the encaustic unique is the application of heat between layers of brushstrokes. Heat binds each layer to the  layer applied before it, creating a rich and complex surface. To me, this art form is reminiscent of the process we use to store memories."
